10 on 10

I am WAY behind on my blog posts and I promise, after vacation, I will catch up. For now, check out this new project I'm doing with some friends/colleagues of mine...

The Ten on Ten project has been around for a few years and has grown to be a fun and interactive way for bloggers to document a snap shot of their lives. As a photographer, I get to post about special moments in other people's lives. The Ten on Ten project is a way for me to share special/funny/everyday moments from my own life. You get a little peek into what my husband calls, "Being a Hill" ... Hill is my maiden name and he usually references it when I'm being a little bit goofy. Once a month we (me and a few other photographer friends from all over the U.S) will post a personal blog with photos from our own experiences. This month we're doing a day in the life and here are my 10 photos on the 10th. Please click on the links below to see what my friends did for their 10 on 10!

A few weeks ago my husband and I drove down to Big Sur to shoot a wedding. We decided to go a day early so we could make it a bit of a mini-vaca! I booked our little cabin sight unseen and it was adorable! When we stepped out of the car we smelled the amazing aroma of the Redwood Trees and I was instantly relaxed! After unpacking the car I decided this would be a fabulous 10 on 10 day so I took out my camera and started snapping away. I loved it! It had been such a long time since I took photos for myself.

An actual KEY to our room! A REAL KEY!

This greeted us outside our cabin. It looked as though it was intended as a decoration - weird. Any idea what kind of animal it belongs to? Maybe I don't want to know :)

I just thought this sign was rustic and cute :)

This little guy was curious what we were doing. I got a nice fuzzy shot of him flying away which is why you get the boring (but in focus) shot of him hanging out.

This might be why my photo of the bird was a little fuzzy. C'mon, it's not a vacation without a gentleman.

 Speaking of gentleman…

I love the sign they made! I swear these things are almost extinct. Think on this - There are adults that have NEVER used one of these. That just makes me feel old.

If you are a photographer, you know this look…

 'Nuff said ;)

We ended our night having dinner on the patio at a local restaurant. I was not prepared and ended up VERY happy that they had these all around to keep me warm.

Please check my friend's 10 on 10's:
